CONTEST: Celebrating HISPANIC ARTS & CULTURE and THE DAY OF THE DEAD We want to invite all artists to participate in this fantastic contest. Opening reception to be held on: November 6, 2010 You DO NOT need to be Hispanic to participate in this contest, you can be part of this great celebration if you have been in Spain, Mexico or any Latin American country, or if you have taken photos or have been creating art enhancing the Hispanic culture.  You are welcome to participate! if you are an artist who has created any piece of visual art representing anything about Mexican, Latin American and Spanish Art, please submit your entries. We are also celebrating The Day of The Dead, so be part of this exiting exhibit celebration! Your submission will be Juried at La Foto Gallery on October 30th 2010. Your work will NOT be on display till it has been paid and untill you receive a confirmation from us that you are in. Opening reception on Saturday, November 6th, 2010 from 7-10pm. How to submit your work? Requirements on how to present your work is indicated at the bottom of this page (preferably bright white mats only). 3D submissions must be secured to be displayed on a shelf or wall. La Foto Gallery will not be responsible for sloppy, unsecured, unstable, loose submitted pieces. Where to have your mats done? For this competition, we suggest Universal Art Gallery 2001 Lincoln Blvd. Venice, CA, 90291, phone: (310)302.8909 and mention La Foto. If you are sending work from overseas, please make sure your images are shipped well protected and don't forget to send us a pre-paid return mail package. When presenting, make sure they are as indicated below. Work not selected: You can pick up the work by the following Monday. If you sent your work from outside the US, please send a prepaid secured package so we can send it back to you. La Foto is not responsible for lost or missplaced materials. Our last year contest judge was: professional photographer Mr. Ed Freeman: Ed Freeman's prize-winning photographs have been featured in two books of fine art photography as well as posters, greeting cards, book covers, calendars, dozens of blogs and hundreds of magazines world wide. He has exhibited widely in museums and galleries, both in this country, Europe and Japan. His travel and commercial photography is carried by Getty Images. He also teaches Photoshop at Santa Monica College.   A big thank you!   This year's celebration will start at Virginia Park with the Pico Blvd Festival and Car Show 2010. Farmers Market Vendors, Pico Merchants and Artists will be at the park displaying, demonstrating, selling and presenting work. Music and Entertainment will create a fantastic ambiance throughout the day to more than 7000 people. For your convenience, a London bus will travel during the day to different venues and business on Pico Blvd, keep an eye to great deals and specials and prepare for the holidays.
